Design Consultant

Term Position 

March 5, 2024 to October 1, 2025 with possibility of Permanent Position

Hours of Work: 

Full Time; 8am – 4:30 pm Monday to Friday


$25-30 per hour, depending on years in industry


Reporting to the Design Leader, the Design Consultant is a creative, outgoing individual who works with the client to create aesthetically pleasing interior spaces for their home. As Design Consultant you will be involved in many aspects of the design process including  selections, interior elevations, drawings, specifications, budgeting and procurement. You will also assist with Office Administration tasks as required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establish rapport and create strong relationship with client to deliver a personal luxury experience
  • Assist interior design selections process to achieve client’s desired look and feel
  • Ensure selections fit within targeted project budgets
  • Document client selections in Maison Design + Build Specifications
  • Coordinate with design team to communicate design direction and ensure details are captured in drawings and specifications
  • Research and recommend products for sample library
  • Maintain neat and orderly sample library and design studio
  • Pick up and drop off sample materials
  • AutoCAD design for all internal Maison drawings
  • Ensure accuracy on design drawings (submit to peer and manager for approval)
  • Ensure that the creation, review, publishing and archive of drawings follow the Maison Document Control System
  • Supports the preliminary and detailed design processes through visual tools like mood boards, drawings and renderings
  • Responsible for the set up and maintenance of the design binder system for IFD, IFQ, IFC, Quality Control and Admin
  • Perform take offs and create bill of materials to aid in estimating and budgeting
  • Record all documents, drawings, specifications in BuilderTrend
  • Maintain welcoming professional atmosphere of office (front entry, conference, kitchen, bathrooms)
  • Set up and take down for meetings and client presentations
  • Project support including set up of file structure, binder system, marketing signage, project close out
  • Maintain phone system and record general greetings
  • Coordinate deliveries and office supplies (inventory and ordering)


  • Related post-secondary degree or diploma in Interior Design or Architectural Technologist discipline
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Industry knowledge of residential home design
  • Effective decision-making skills
  • Excellent creative, communication and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with maintaining a budget
